CBS Must Have Lost Their Writer's

Moved from Village Ramblings - - -

Anyone else ticked off about the CBS finales? After about 7 years away, I was lured back to TV with CSI then CSI Miami, CSI NY, NCIS and ended up adding Criminal Minds, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Without a Trace.

We suffered through the writer's strike, watching reruns of last season over and over. We finally got a shortened season and what did we get for our suffering? To begin with some really crappy jump the shark type writing on CSI. The whole Grissom/Sarah has sucked from the beginning. I watch these shows to see a mystery, to be intrigued by interesting forensics and clues and then to find out who did it. I could care less about the detectives except that I do like them and kind of want them to stay around but I am not big on wanting to know their personal lives. Sort of like Poirot, it is nice to have a few quirks added in but I don't want to see a love life evolve. Stick to the story you are there to tell. (Talk about jumping the shark, a few years ago the opening love scene with panting and popping neck veins on Without a Trace was way too much.)

Anyway, over the last week I have suddenly been sucked back to the 80's and will be walking around all summer saying "who shot J.R.?" I don't watch any of the ABC shows because I refuse to be held hostage by continuing story type soap operas. Lost and Desperate Housewives are nothing more than soap operas with faster writers than the daytime series. Evidently the CBS writers hung out with the ABC writers and ended their seasons with cliffhangers. The only other possibility is they forgot how to write an ending. Either way I resent being the butt of their tired tricks to substitute a lack of skills or a lack of negotiated contracts with no endings to the shows.

So over it.........

Spyware & Spy Bot/Spy Doctor ARRRRGGHH!!!!!

Cranky, irritable, ready to toss the computer out the window, there is a long list of the ways I am feeling about my computer right now and none of them are friendly. I downloaded some scrap kits and music 2 weeks ago Sat and for the first time in 11 years of being online, was attacked by spyware. I have AVG, ZoneAlarm and Yahoo's AntiSpy. I wasn't aware that the AntiSpy was out of date and also only works when online. I had forgotten to get the AdAware when I changed computers a few months ago.

Some friends told me that I should use SpyBot, that it was so much better. I kept trying to download it and was sent to mirrors that gave me Spy Doctor. Does SpyBot actually exist? Is it just a myth? I finally downloaded the Spy Doctor and it took forever because the computer is crawling. Well, guess what???? Yes, it finally downloaded and scanned my computer. However, it DOES NOT actually do a danged thing about it unless you pay. So what good is it?? Man it was like going to the hospital and them saying yeah you have a few gaping wounds there and sending you home without sewing them up. Sheesh, why would I want to download something that doesn't actually work? I could understand it having a limit of 10 free scans and clearings or 30 days like some of the extractor programs do. I do not get it when a program doesn't actually work at all. What is free about that? All I did was add a pile of useless crap to my computer and waste almost 8 hours doing it.

I went back and downloaded the AdAware and it supposedly deleted a bunch of problem files plus Mon my AVG suddenly decided I had a bunch of Trojans and it supposedly healed or deleted those. Well, everytime I open my email and try to open one of them, I get pop up windows. I go back and run another scan and find the same stuff is back again. Now the AdAware is seizing up and won't even run now so I just keep running the Yahoo scan and AVG. In the meantime, my machine is sucking up MB like me with a pan of fudge walnut brownies. I dumped over 500MB 4 days ago and have downloaded nothing onto my computer but it says I am down to less than 60MB right now. Oh, and I have been trying to clear my browser but it keeps seizing up and won't empty.

Oh well, I am going to kick the trash can and sit in the oasis while I try to calm down a bit. I am not emailing anyone. Haven't sent out anything in almost 2 weeks because I don't want to take a chance and infect others. I assume Blogger will not let them through.
